About This Work
This work begins with spontaneously created stains using everyday materials such as tea and coffee. There is no predetermined form or figure; the associations that emerge within these random traces are followed through pareidolia (the human tendency to perceive meaningful images in ambiguous forms). Based on these stains, the original form of each stain is preserved exactly, and drawings and illustrations are developed directly from this form. In this way, each stain becomes the foundation of a character without being altered; each is given a story, an inner voice, and a space of existence. These independent structures are then connected within a shared narrative, forming a unified whole. This narrative represents the invisible bridges we construct within our inner world: feeling that we exist while also thinking we disappear, yet inevitably leaving a trace behind; inner voices that conflict with one another, yet continue to exist within an ongoing cycle.
There is also a technical bridging within the work. The characters placed on the wall are arranged according to the sequence of the animation, connecting to one another in order. The starting point is the stain form within the white frame, and the animation begins from this form as well. As the progression on the wall follows the transformation process of the characters, the final character is linked to a QR code. This character is the animated version of the final form in the sequence and directs the viewer to the video, that is, to the algorithmic production process. In this way, the structure transitions from the physical surface to the digital environment, establishing a concrete passage from perception to algorithm.
